Ascend’s very own Joe Gambles has romped home to take victory in the European Long Distance Triathlon Championships in Gerardmer, France.

Coming out of the swim roughly a minute behind the leaders, Gambles was put to the test when Great Britain’s Paul Amey opened up a three minute lead on the bike.

From this point on though Gambles; who uses Ascend's Elite range of products for a competitive edge; put into effect the benefits of his elite training regime.

Gambles went to work eroding Amey’s lead to just 55 seconds coming into the final transition; “my legs felt amazing and I began my chase back to the leader” taking the lead midway through the first lap, he continued to assert his dominance on the long distance event; taking out the race by just under 4½ mins.

“It hasn’t really sunk in that I am European Champ and to take this title in a strong field over a distance that I have never raced before makes it even sweeter!”
