Marysville-Lake Mountain Fire Relief Ride

It was a sight to behold!  An endless procession of vehicles snaking their way-out on the single lane road that leads to Marysville; one long line of bike racks, visible through headlights and a crisp early morning fog.

This was a 1,500 strong field of riders coming together for a personal sporting challenge (the ascent to Lake Mountain), and to raise funds for the Bushfire Relief Fund, a very worthy cause.

The ride was hosted by Cyclo Sportif Victoria and consisted of either a 145km ride or a 60km support ride, in and around the recovering bush landscape of Marysville, finishing at the snow capped summit of Lake Mountain.

As you can see by the photos below, the day provided perfect ride conditions and a final hill climb that few riders will forget in a hurry...

Recovery Bars well earned we say!
